Mealworm Food

If your would like to store your mealworms for longer then make sure you supply your mealworms with a source of food. If keeping mealworms for a time, simply add it to the container once they have consumed the food they arrive with. Finding live food can become difficult as the season progresses and competition for natural resources increases. So if you provide a reliable source of food near to a nest this will help parent birds provide fresh, nutritious protein-rich food to their young, thus helping them raise a healthy brood. Live foods will also be appreciated by insectivorous birds such as Wrens, Dunnocks, wagtails and tits who will all find it increasingly more difficult to find soft bodied insects as the days get colder. Live foods are extremely beneficial to a wide range of species – not just birds. As well as being important sources of protein for young birds, they are attractive and nutritious to many other garden visitors.
